Administrative Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Perform receptionist duties by greeting clients, visitors, new hires, and existing employees, and answering phone.
  • Be the go-to person for anything and everything, whether a co-op student new to the area needs suggestions on a good place to eat, or a senior employee needs a proofing review of a new client proposal.
  • Provide problem solving solutions for administrative problems.
  • Assist with event planning and meeting space setup.
  • Manage social media accounts and website.
  • Support the organization’s objective of creating an exceptional employee experience that enables the company to engage with the talent needed to transform and grow the business.
  • Ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently while organizing office operations and procedures.
  • Perform clerical duties such as typing correspondence and reports, scheduling appointments, travel arrangements and reservations, proof reading / formatting reports, assist with proposal preparation.
  • Manage contract and price negotiations with office vendors and service providers.
  • Serve as the point person for duties including maintenance, mailing, supplies, equipment, bills, and errands, I.T., Health & Safety, HR and event planning.
  • Become the expert in navigating our various software platforms and provide assistance to co-workers when needed.

Capabilities and Credentials

  • Previous experience in a similar professional office environment could prove to be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Polite and confident with a great deal of patience.
  • Detail oriented, extremely well organized, and able to manage time and multi-task.
  • Problem solving aptitude.
  • Ability to think outside the box.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Excel; Proficiency with QuickBooks and/or accounting software is an asset.

Water Resources Technologist –
Peterborough, Ontario

Engage is currently seeking a Technician/Technologist to join our Water Resources team. In this role you will work with our growing team of engineers on a variety of water resource projects for public and private sector clients. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic individual who can help contribute to the continued growth of this segment within our business.

Responsibilities

  • Support creation of drawings and designs for water resource projects including low impact development features, stormwater management facilities, and floodplain assessments.
  • Assist with preparing stormwater management and floodplain assessment reports.
  • Hydraulic calculations and hydrologic modelling.
  • Co-ordinate with co-workers and regulatory agencies on assigned projects.
  • Designing erosion and sediment control features and plans.
  • Culvert and storm sewer system design and assessments.

Capabilities and Credentials

  • A technical degree/diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Someone who has an understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Someone who has experience with HEC-RAS and Visual OTTHYMO software would be an asset.
  • Someone with the ability to interact with our clients is an essential core quality. Engage is rooted in providing strong customer service and client relationships and an important aspect of this position is developing and managing relationships with clients.
  • Someone who is highly motivated, hardworking and an enthusiastic team player.
  • Someone who is proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Someone who has experience in water resources engineering and asset but not required.

Municipal or Civil Designer –
Peterborough, Ontario

Engage Engineering is a small consulting engineering firm based in Peterborough that provides civil engineering services to public and private sector clients. We believe this helps us better understand our client’s needs and deliver unique solutions tailored to those needs. Engage is not just our company name, it’s our business philosophy.

Engage is currently seeking a Civil Designer / Engineer in Training to join our team. Typical projects include residential, commercial, and industrial site plans, subdivisions, and municipal road reconstruction projects. A solid background in design and a strong understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset, but ultimately, we’re interested in a team member that shares the same values of Engage and is looking to grow with our firm.

Responsibilities

  • Design civil elements including grading, drainage, roads, storm and sanitary sewers.
  • Prepare engineering drawings using Civil3D.
  • Play a key role managing and interacting with clients.
  • Opportunities for field work including survey and construction inspection.

Capabilities and Credentials

  • Civil Engineering Technology Diploma
  • Proven experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D software (1-5 years)
  • Previous experience in consulting or a similar professional office environment to be an asset.
  • Previous experience with inspecting municipal servicing construction to be an asset.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
